Biography
Jacqueline Balian
Jacqueline Balian is Head of Operations for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme which is administered by Ofgem, the Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets. The RHI is designed to increase the uptake of renewable heat technologies by providing incentive payments to organisations which opt to generate heat from renewable rather than fossil fuels. The growth in renewable heat is intended to contribute towards the Governments target of 15 per cent of total UK energy consumption being generated from renewable sources by 2020 and increase energy security by diversifying the generation of UK energy. The Government has committed to providing £860 million worth of support for the RHI up to 2015 and has asked Ofgem to administer the scheme.
Before joining Ofgem, Jacqueline was MD of CIBSE Services, the commercial arm of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers where she was responsible for the development and operation of the Low Carbon Energy Assessors accreditation scheme, and for the Institutions events, training and publishing.
